Eric Schmidt was dissapointed that Nokia chose for MS instead of Google Android and keeps the door open. My respect for the Google guys and girls is huge. It's rare that a company can grow so fast and become a household name that quickly and IMHO Google compaires in no way to Facebook, Microsoft or any other tech company in history. So why did Nokia make this decision? Probably because its hard to think straight when your pants are on fire. Or, its the ego factor. They dont want Google to dominate the mobile space and think these guys from Sillicon Valley get to much power. For me this makes as much sense as the aversion to Windows and Bill Gates a lot of technology people have. It's envy based on nothing but not wanting others to be great. If I was the CEO of Nokia I would have struck deals with every decent OS, maybe even made a phone with so much processing power the user could run both. For Nokia it should be about connecting people.
I don't know the individuals involved here, but I know one thing....The innovation power of Google is like Austin Powers his stamina. Again and again they get it up and running and fill our lives witgh Google juice. The future is being shaped by many and some just shape better then others. Nokia is a great brand and a great company, so again why did they not go with Android, what is the bottom line here?
I want a phone that:
1. Looks good;
2. Multi Touch Screen & Keyboar;
3. 2 TB of memory and serve as mobileback up device for all my hardware; (like Apple Timecapsule)
4. High def video and photo camera;
5. All conectivity (WIFI, BT, G3, etc.) and more; (Can't they figure a way for phones to become the network? (Back in the days the Dutch KPN had something like that, didnt work because you need a lot of phones, but could work now);
6. Apps,GPS, Music, etc;
7. Would be nice if my phone could serve as a beamer or can be connected to external monitor;
8. Would be nice if my phone ran on solar or kinetic energy;
9. Would be nice if my phone would auto back up my data, so never do I have to retype my address book;
10. Call, Text, Video conference, Social networks etc;
11. Would be nice if my phone could swim and be very hard to break;
12. Would be nice if my phone could be my personal preference centre and could connect to any environment and configure automatically to my preference; (Here my imagination goes wild and even I don't understand what exactly I mean, it sounds nce though ;-);
13. My phone shoudn't be a phone anymore, but the heart of my personal technology.
I think mobile is the biggest money maker in the world, so the market place is crowded and full of innovation. The likes of Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG, etc. have become followers and copycats. All I can say: It's not about the money stupid!
