Through my friend Andrej on FB I stumbled upon this article. Rand Fishkin wrote it and did a great job. Thanks for that Rand. I have done it the other way around and didn't want to work with VC's. Yes I did pitches and met up, but thought it would be better to deal with informal investors. Looking back I think it's all the same. At the end of the day you need to find the right person (s) or investment companies and convince them of your ideas and business (company-market). In the beginning its all about the entrepreneur and the idea and will it appeal to anybody. I have the "no asshole policy" in place, but its not always working, because my asshole detection is not 100% accurate. Follow the Rainbow
