Yesterday I attended the Dutch innovation lecture hosted by the minister and ministry of economic affairs. With the intention to think outside the box and have a debate about what needs to happen to create the optimal circumstances to innovate. For me its strange to see that I was amongst the youngest people in the room. Very little women and most Grey or no hair at all. Not that senior citizens cannot innovate, that would be too bold, but I think that young people should be part of this too. I'm talking about under 21! The thing that worries me most is that our minister held a compelling key note speech about how to innovate and why. People at the center of your innovations and so forth. What worries me is that at the same time we talk about innovation in Copenhagen we talk about our planet. If you only put gains in terms of more faster for people and businesses at the center of your policy to stimulate innovation you forget a couple of things Our Earth and all that is living on it should be at the core of every innovation discussion. That our own minister didn't even mention this in her bla bla shows me that first we need to innovate our politicians awareness and make sure they get it before we all walk around with an oxygen tank. Innovation brought us where we are today and many innovations have been fantastic to people so they can make more money faster. In retrospect I think it's safe to say we over innovated ourselves a bit at the cost of life on our beloved planet. This sucks and should change. How? Start with governments that put people, planet and each other at the heart of everything they decide upon.
