iTunes and Apple customer service

Last week I switched to a 100% MAC environment. (iPhone, Macbook, iPod etc etc). This isn't a walk in the park, coming from a 50/50 (Mac/PC) environment. So dissapointed with what Sony Vaio and MS are offering, but reluctant to change because of software compatibility issues and files... So I decided to make the change...

The situation: My iPhone and iPod are sunced with my PC and all my (purchased) music is there too, except for the albums and tracks I purchased using the Macbook. Tring to consolidate and migrate everything to the Mac and sync it with my music devices was and is hell and the only way to do this is by downloading everything again from the iTunes store with my Mac. Apple first told me that's not allowed, only download once... But with one email about sanity Apple showed to me why they rule..

The next big thing(s)

Listening to Mr. Joy I got exited about the views and ideas of a great mind. This man made a big success out of his mind and today is part of a large VC firm. What made me think again are his last words. Limit access to information/knowledge. It made me think that the next big thing might be a group of super wealthy technology people that just like the Catholic church decide to whoim can do what or has access to what. Looking again at this uber intelligent man I see this scenario unfold. Maybe his intentions are right today and will be for the future, I still believe in natural selection and believe that people outside the elite with super talents should have as much access to everything as people inside the elite. Conclusion: I am confused about this talk...

Innovation in Holland

Yesterday I was invited to join the Dutch governments 'Innovation Lecture'. The crowd included our minister of economic affairs and other high placed people in Dutch corporate and public domain. There was a great keynote speaker telling everybody more about what Innovation is. bla bla   

All together I think the event was nice and I am grateful for the invite but....

There was nothing that gave the impression that we were talking about innovation. 90% of the people were 50+ (my impression) only a few ladies and nothing really new. Even the present at the end (A USB cup warmer) made me think that Holland will be last in the world where it concerns innovation. The fork/spoon made me really sad, if this is the imagination of our economic department we are fucked. Just goodwill and chatting is not enough to bring us at the forefront of innovation. Risk, opportunity, entrepreneurship, trust are the key words I am thinking about in creating the environment to be competitive on innovation. Less rules and regulation and a task force that actually helps to stimulate people and organisation to develop new ways of doing things. But at number one of my list: Accept faillure... Don't throw billions at rotten banks and other financial institutions andlet these businesses die. New banks and financial institutions will arise and innovate. The money saved can go EDUCATION. More money for teachers and as a consequence more esteem for this profession. We need to teach our kids skills and give them knowledge. Priority numero uno. bla bla I know why I am not impressed with politicians. They talk, meet and talk and will not do anything that is a risk for their carreer or the political party they represent. Sad because I think highly of the people like Minister Verhoeven, what a great personality, but caught in the claws of our Dutch Democrazy...

To all my US friends, colleagues and fellow earthlings. Congratulations with your first black  President! I hope for you that Barack is more than half black and a fantastic public speaker. I hope he will be able to address the big challenges America is facing in times of change. In Holland this picture was seen in all newspapers, I like it, it shows John has a sense of humor. I think both candidates were great, but believe Barack was the best choice.

SP the Dutch socialist party that I used to vote for

I already decided not to vote for the SP again. Why? Several reasons, but today another reason was added to the portfolio of IMHO stupid political behavior. Opening of shops on Sunday. Why would the government decide when people open or close their business? Next to that lots of issues will automatically resolve because of a 24/7 economy. Traffic jams etc etc...... I will vote D66 next time elections come up, think they are getting better...

Getting Ready for election night. Still big fan of CHAOS. I think Obama will win with big numbers. Who wants grandpa to manage a nation? Big mistake from republicans.
