Now IIP reaches the final stages of development and we are almost ready to kick FUGA in the market the pressure is huge. Having a bunch of people working day and night to make a dream come true is fantastic, but also very intense and stress full. We had the first big fight today about quality and details. WOW! Very happy to see this, I think it's better to get it out of your system and stand up for what you believe in, rather than keep it inside and let it rot. As a entrepreneur I am passionate about my projects and even aggressive when things don't go the way I want. Working with people always requires the talent to understand their needs and thought processes. I have found out that I can be so full of myself that sometimes I forget to listen to others, both to what they say and what they mean ;-) This adventure has learned me so many things about myself and about bringing a company to life, I feel like a different person already. I don't why I write this post, but hope to get some feedback about team dynamics in start ups and thoughts of others dealing with fast growing teams, strong characters, strong believes and passion.

Simplify Media part 2

Now I am excited! This little app is so simple it will do the trick. I would like some more statistics on my activities and easy access to the music. This could be a good case for the music industry to build a new business on a web 2.0 concept and reinvent the way business is being done. I also like the compatibility with iTunes. I salute the guys and girls that created this and would love to meet them when back in the States. Finding the right business model is the biggest challenge. I love it!

Happy with Andrew Dubber's New Music Strategies

A while ago I stumbled upon Andrew's weblog and ever since I feel more connected with the world around me. Thanks Andrew! He pointed me to a new social network service called >> Simplify Media. It looks very promising and today I am going to try it out and take it for a spin. I have seen so many new social music services, all, except Pandora and LastFM, are bad clones of the latter. Simplify sounds so simple and if it works it would be the next big thing. Would be cool if they add the feature so I can buy tracks from friends (they get compilation royalty) and creators get paid. The ultimate way to discover is through people you trust for their good taste and expertise in music.

FACEBOOK is killing it

I don't know whats going on, but in the last couple of weeks everybody joins facebook. Even my girl is sitting on the sofa connecting to people from the past and now. WOW. My Space eat your heart out. Think FACEBOOK is going to become the bigger thing here. It's time for some anti social networking. Who will create a application that will block me and other internet users from being part of too many social networks. That helps me to find time for myself, very private, nobody knowing what the &*^% goes on...

Rihanna's number one hit ‘Umbrella’ is being blamed for

Britain

's unseasonably wet weather.  

Forget global warming, British residents are starting to think a chart-topping song may be to blame for the island's recent appalling weather.

Rihanna's song Umbrella has been number one there for nine weeks . . . and for nine weeks, monsoon-like rains have drenched the nation.

Now the Sun newspaper is urging its readers to stop buying and listening to the single in a bid to reclaim the summer.

It has compiled a list of alternative downloads which it hopes will reverse the bad weather, amid claims that clubbers partying to the tune may have unwittingly been doing a rain dance.

Among the suggestions are Summer Breeze by the Isley Brothers and Stevie Wonder's You Are The Sunshine Of My Life.

Umbrella was also number one in the

New Zealand

charts for six weeks from June 4 until July 15.

During that time the country was besieged by bad weather, with tornadoes in Taranaki, Tauranga and

Auckland

and flooding in the Far North.

The song has been knocked off its top spot this week by T-Pain's Bartender, featuring Akon.

has been battered by storms this week, the weather over the rest of the country appears to have settled.

But just one day after the song hit the shops, the severe weather began to roll in.

The met office issued alerts for

and Hampshire in June.

Last month was the wettest June on record with almost 120mm of rain but the Sun hopes its campaign will stop this July from producing similarly depressing statistics.

Independent IP (IIP) is seeking an experienced system administrator to join the Technical Operations team.

 

Together with team members, your responsibility will be to plan and manage the datacenter infrastructure, including: servers and services, networking, databases, networking, firewalls, backup, security, monitoring, incident management, and more. You will bring your knowledge to the evolving datacenter architecture, as well as get your hands dirty with daily management. In addition, you will be called on to support office infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Deploy and manage all      elements of the IIP data center infrastructure
• Design technical      architecture and procedures
• Analyze security and      availability risks

• Change and release      management
• Automate management where      possible
• Configuration and maintenance of Company’s office      infrastructure such as employee hardware, phone-lines, internet      connections, email accounts, virus-scanners and intra-server.

Required:

• Deep expertise managing      Web applications on Unix/Linux on a large scale (Jrocket/Resin, Ruby on      Rails, Ubuntu)
• IP networking skills –      routing, switching, firewalls (PIX).
• Basic relational database      administration skills (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Broad IT security      knowledge (nmap, Snort)
• Affiliation with open      source, while keeping an open mind
• Programming/scripting      skills
• Knowledge of change and      release management and testing procedures
• Knowledge of Mac OS X and      Windows XP for office support
• Fluent spoken and written      English

Back from the UK

Just returned from a short stay in London and found myself in the middle of a possible terror attack. Staying at Piccadilly and very close to a car filled up with gazzz and nails. I just can't stop thinking of the level of amateurism these so called terrorist display. How difficult can it be if you really want to destroy? Happy nothing happened and hoping one day peace will be a hip thing ;-)
