EMI Toes DRM-Free Waters, Offers Norah Jones MP3 Single

EMI is now offering a Norah Jones single in the open MP3 format, a monumental step for the label. The ultra-popular jazz pop singer is positioning the unrestricted single, "Thinking About You," on Yahoo Music, a move that bucks longtime label thinking on protection. The development also follows a lengthy campaign by Yahoo Music executive David Goldberg, who has tirelessly rallied against the use of digital rights management on music files. "Most people believe they can get enough value from what they get for free," Goldberg said during an executive forum in Los Angeles earlier this year. >> Digital Music News

IndependentIP is developing a  specialized desktop application for professional use. To design the user interface of this application, IIP is looking for a

UI designer and usability specialist

Working with a functional specialist, you will transform the functional design into a user interface design. This design will define the logic and organization of the user interface, and the presentation of complex business information and processes. Following that, you will collaborate with a team of graphic designers and software developers to implement the user interface on multiple platforms.

You should have:

• Hands-on experience with the latest GUI tool-sets for      both Windows and Mac
• Strong skills in information modeling
• A flair for visual design
• Specific knowledge of usability in graphic user      interfaces

This role will take demand a full-time engagement for 1 to 2 months, followed by on-going part-time work.
