Market analyst firm iSuppli reports that shipments of MP3 players will grow almost fourfold by 2009. 36.8 million MP3 player units shipped in 2004, and iSuppli estimates that 132 million units will ship in 2009, largely fueled by growing demand for hard-disk based systems like the Apple iPod. iSuppli expects hard-disk systems to compose nearly half of the MP3 player market by 2009, up from 26.6 percent in 2004.
